: about me :

Hello, my name is Peggy.

I love all things summer and the outdoors. I adore my family more than anything else and am my happiest when I am with them. I love to talk, laugh and listen. Sometimes all at once. After starting off incredibly intense and uptight I now find I am terribly laidback and some might say 'too casual'. That's me. I like to keep it simple.

I have worked fulltime for 2 decades. I currently run a small business working fulltime, which I really enjoy. People often ask me how do I do it (working fulltime and managing a family), I honestly don’t really think about it. But if I was to think about it I would say my Mum did it and often on her own, and she did it with the cleanest of home, home cooked meals on the table every night and with integrity and style and precision and order. Big shoes.

I adore my Mum, I love to share everything with her. I don’t go a day without talking, texting, emailing or facebook-ing her.  I have a genuinely amazing friendship with her and would not be where I am today without her love and support. She is up there (in my eyes) with the Dalai Lama. Worshipped.

If I could change anything about myself it would be my intolerance to intolerance. I am working on it. And also my intolerance to impatience. I am also working on that.

I am a dreamer, an optimist, notoriously late, a bedhead (I slept through a cyclone once when the entire apartment building I was sleeping in was evacuated), direct, open-minded, hard-working, chatty, a keen photographer (not professionally), a keen writer (also not professionally) and a sharer of all things beautiful. I have been working hard on attaining inner peace and a calm mind in a busy working mums world for the better part of the last 7 years, neither of which come easily but some days I think I am ALMOST there.

I enjoy blogging. I love the idea of keeping a journal yet find blogging also taps into my creative side. I love pretty images and can whittle away hours gazing at photos or pictures. I have always loved writing and have been creative for as long as I can recall. I used to stick 20c coins to homemade cards for my Mum when I was a little girl. She still has them.

I am not comfortable giving people advice however I will share tips I find make my days easier. If I can inspire at least one person I will be chuffed to the earlobes. So please, let me know if you find anything helpful in my posts.

I am very interested in my Finnish heritage and am excited at the prospect of learning more about my background. I am inspired by Scandinavian design and have been told that my love of European style shows in my surroundings. I will also be sharing all things Finnish.

I wish I took more photos, made more time to read, talked less and listened more.
I am me. A Finnish, Aussie-born girl who loves family, life, love and all things beautiful.

  1. This is one of the best 'about me' pages I've read!

    Absolutely love it!

You seem like such a beautiful person, and your relationship with your mum is incredible!

What kind of business do you run? How you do all of that with children and life, and even blogging, is medal worthy :)

    Cherie xx

  2. Thank you Cherie, that is such a huge compliment! Your page was actually one that inspired me to expand mine. My first 'about me' page didn't have much in it as ironically I didn't want to bore people with stuff about um, me!

I co-own a small medical specialist practice. In the start I had immense support from my husband around the home, he is very hands-on with our son and cooks etc (lucky me). So when the business was new and demanded a lot of time I was able to give it. Now it is all about routine, and I move pretty fast! Also when I am out of the office I totally switch off. That is the key for me, quality downtime.

Thanks again for your lovely thoughts Cherie.

  3. Your husband sounds beautiful :)

And i believe people who read blogs are not the kind of people who could be bored by people :) I think bloggers are people lovers :)

Well, that's been my experience anyway :)

    xx

  4. I agree, bloggers are inclined to be 'people' people.

I am fascinated by people, I thoroughly enjoy reading others' thoughts and daily goings on. I head straight for the 'about me' page when I come across a new blog.

  11. Lisa they should call me bedhead, it is the best way to describe me! I am one of those folks that rolls out of bed all dopey and don't try to communicate with me until I have had my coffee! ha!

You and I were very artistic with the coins in cards trick. How original were we?! Hallmark have much to learn!

ps...funny you wrote 'sticky', I wrote that word in my fb comment to you. Subliminal word got stuck in your head? ;)
